ADARS look to turn the tide of COVID-19’s impact on the music industry as they release ‘Get Better’ – an uplifting anthem for self-improvement which transforms RADARS trademark danceable indie-rock sound into a reflection on how we can all push forward through an unprecedented year.
As RADARS prepared for the release of their previous single ‘Same Page’ on the 10th April, it was all looking up for the Hull quintet as they racked up pre-saves through a successful social media campaign and began to book their first gigs at illustrious Hull venues, The Welly and Polar Bear. Although the single was a success with over 10,000 streams on Spotify alone, no-one could predict how the world would change from the release date to today. Instead of hitting the road with a set of freshly written songs in support of the single release, RADARS were forced to cancel any plans they had made along with the rest of the world. However after a long period of lockdown and isolation, RADARS were able to reunite at a distance and return to the studio to record ‘Get Better’. After going back to the trusted team of producer Barrington Molé (published by Warner Chappell) and engineer Tom Carter (Whitemoor, I Set The Sea On Fire) at Soundhub Studios, along with mastering from Peter Maher (Snow Patrol, The Killers, Katy Perry), ‘Get Better’ followed in the trail set by ‘Same Page’ with a combination of foot tapping rhythms, racing guitar riffs and powerful vocals. ‘Get Better’ gets you straight onto your feet when the distant opening guitar riff is blasted away by the full force of the band’s driving riffs. The drums from Joe and bass from Calvin combine into a funk inspired dance groove which could easily slip into a Red Hot Chili Peppers song. As the rhythm section carries the song into the verse, Sam and Dave’s catchy guitar riffs work seamlessly with Jack’s irresistible Kings of Leon inspired vocals, before his chorus hooks (“Do you feel like a ticking time bomb?”) evoke the carefree feeling of pumping your fists on a muddy festival ground. With only their second single with bassist Calvin and with the production and engineer team at Soundhub, RADARS have found a formula for producing catchy but rocking indie-pop tunes that looks set to gain them even more support across the country. Their first three singles have had over 20,000 streams combined with a steady increase in followers during this time, and ‘Get Better’ looks set to add even more to these numbers as it lights up playlists across the world. ‘Get Better’ sees RADARS ride the wave of the current crisis to come out on top, and it will also see them ride the wave of the 2020 British indie-rock revival alongside bands like Sports Team, Porridge Radio and Vistas as guitar bands make yet another comeback. brooks barry, singer/songwriter from nashville, just released his new track 'used to being lonely'8/26/2020
Pop, singer songwriter and producer Brooks Barry is a consummate, hopeless romantic. His writing is known for its passion and honesty. He released his first single in the beginning of 2019 'Dirt on Your Dress', which caught the heart of many. Later that year he followed up by releasing the 5 song EP 'She Loves Me Not'. His current goal is to release a new single every month of 2020 and for the foreseeable future.
Recently announced is his next single 'Used to Being Lonely' which was released on 25 August 2020. “I wrote 'Used to Being Lonely' to capture the internal struggle I often feel when I start to find myself interested in someone. I want all that a relationship can offer, but I hesitate to open up my heart. Partly, I hold back out of a fear of rejection and partly because I am accustomed to the feeling of being lonely. But the song takes you through a process with a hopeful ending." Brooks engages his listeners with raspy, yet smooth vocal, tasty melodies, and a tone in his voice that reaches the depths of your soul, expressing those feelings of vulnerability we can all relate to. Yet his songs make us hopeful as they move us closer to where we want to be. Like a good friend, they lift us through our hard times encouraging us to believe that a fulfilling relationship awaits. “As a songwriter, I try to write from the heart with the goal of expressing common themes that are relatable. I feel deeply and music is a way to connect with those feelings and with others.” Social Media links: https://www.instagram.com/brooksbarry/ https://www.youtube.com/brooksbarry https://www.facebook.com/BrooksBarry/ https://twitter.com/brooksbarry https://open.spotify.com/artist/1inC62wyPxrnHgozqxzhMa?si=uLi59Zt0TYKO9sPVa1G9sQ
premiere: watch the new animated music video for single 'on sundays' by irish band the lost gecko8/25/2020
Cork- based three-piece The Lost Gecko are set to release an animated music video for their recent single, “On Sundays.” The song tells the story of two people caught in the waves of life, their lives colliding in uncertain times, with no idea how long it will last. The video shows this tragic love story, and viewers are left with an open-ended resolution. The ethereal, dream-like animation compliments the acoustic, storytelling elements of the song. The handcrafted video reveals its narrative in small vignettes, where information is revealed and then quickly obscured. Frontman Malcolm Urquhart says, “It’s about love, loss, mental health and the fallout.” The video was animated by Mark Corrigan, an award winning animator. He has worked with various Irish and international acts, and his work has been described as hypnotic, innovative, unorthodox, and gorgeous. This is his fourth collaboration with The Lost Gecko. The tune was inspired by a boat trip that Malcolm took to Sherkin Island in West Cork. The Lost Gecko is the brainchild of Malcolm, recording the first tracks including 'On Sundays' at Blairwood Studios with producer Nils Elders in 2006 in Aberdeen, Scotland. He has been based in Cork, Ireland since 2008. The band have released seven EPs, one album, and in the past few months five singles, all accompanying music videos, building up to their next album. Their music has been featured on RTE's late date with Fiachna O Brainon and Cork's 96fm Arts House with Pearse McCarthy. They’ve also played festivals in Amsterdam and toured in Finland, have gigged extensively around Ireland, including several festivals and sold-out shows in Cork. The Lost Gecko is Malcolm (songwriting, guitar, vocals), Elaine McCarthy (songwriting, cello), John O’Connor (Drums, songwriting, percussion), and long-time producer and collaborator John Burke of Claycastle Studios, Youghal, Cork. debut track 'slow with it' hails the arrival of emerging gen-z writer/vocalist l'ray (luhray)8/24/2020

new upbeat pop song 'cash machine' out by irish artist honas driven by pulsating synth bass8/21/2020
With three releases now under Honas' belt, he has enjoyed radio coverage on BBC Northern Ireland and various regional stations in Ireland. He has amassed over 800,000 total streams on Spotify, with debut single 'Wicker Blanket' landing on Spotify's Fresh Finds, and 2nd single 'Control' finding itself on Chilled Lounge - an editorial playlist with over 1M followers, and his latest single, 'Cash Machine' landing on Chilled Pop Hits.
'Cash Machine' was released on July 10th. A more upbeat offering this time, with pulsating synth bass, muted guitars, and a joyful chorus of voices, "Kill another hour, kill another day". Barry Gruff (music blogger) describes Cash Machine as a "Lush, hazy and melodic slice of infectious electro-pop; hushed heartfelt vocals purr with melody above a gushing sea of synth and glistening electronics". "Cash Machine was written in the first year or two after finishing college. I found myself in that situation where I was doing bits of work that were essential for me to afford to live in Dublin, but ultimately none of them were what I wanted to do, they weren’t making me feel fulfilled. The jobs were energy-sapping, and made it very difficult to find motivation to do what I love, which is writing and producing music. I started to see time flying by, with all my goals and intentions almost becoming a joke, just meaningless words that I got sick of saying to myself. You can get so far from where you want to be that you don’t even know where to start to get back there. And it’s weird, sometimes you can start seeing an almost funny side to how ridiculous that situation is." - Honas
Underhill West's new album ‘Restart’ is beyond boundaries!
The Greek band from Xanthi released their new album on 5 June 2020. The album has been in the works for the last two years and is called "Restart". It contains 11 new songs and is available on Spotify, iTunes and all major download stores. Underhill West's new songs introduce us to a special pop aesthetic with elements of electronic music, disco, rock and hip hop, while it includes a plethora of modern and nostalgic, along with a lot of experimentation that reveals that the band has been discovering its sound from principle. "Restart" is rich in sound and lyrical content and will surely make you feel listening to all 11 songs at the same time. The album titles are as follow:
Lyrically, Underhill West put their optimistic outlook aside for a while and decided to talk about their personal issues that they have been going through over the last couple of years. The social commentary could not be missed in their musical work either, only this time it is done in a very different way, commenting on the human nature in the modern world. The album was produced by Underhill West and Ioannis Varelidis with different musicians participating such as professional greek singer Nina Mazani, Teo Finidis, Villis Kampantais and Efi Hatzopoulou. Underhill West are Michalis Hatzopoulos and Tasos Avramidis, who became architects of a modern musical project which is undoubtedly worth to watch out for.
Dmunsch (aka Alexander Diemunsch) joined forces with his friend and funk/disco producer UnionSteve (aka Steven De Bondt) and released a new track: ‘We Own The Summer’. The song landed in the Top 3 of the Mid-Year Song Contest by Claudia eRecords and is available now on all major streaming platforms.
We all love some good old fashion feel-good music once in a while. Dmunsch & UnionSteve took good care of that by combining a modern-day house beat with some funky 80's style guitar and great vibing vocals by Florian F, a professional Romanian singer and Songwriter. Great ideas don't come every day. But when they do, it's usually out of a sudden. This time was no different: During a day of jamming, Dmunsch came up with some happy summer chords and a catchy whistling tune. UnionSteve caught the vibe and joined in with a magically complimentary guitar melody. When one of them shouted randomly “Because we own the summer!”, they knew that a new track was born. Dmunsch started producing at the age of 12 when his dad installed Fruity Loops, a digital audio workstation. He was hooked from day one and blessed with a father who did not care about school results but took the individual passions of his son very seriously. The best term to describe Dmunsch's music is “melodic house”. He uses elements of Deep House, Disco House, EDM and even Progressive House, without committing to any of these genres, as long as it creates a vibe of carefreeness, euphoria and happiness. Dmunsch was influenced by various electronic acts such as Avicci, Disclosure, DJ Licious and Purple Disco Machine. After years of practicing, experimenting and just enjoying himself, he released his first singles Moving On in July 2019 (feat. Marcelo Moncada) and Wild Tonight in April 2020 (feat. TG Music). UnionSteve has been in the industry much longer and was exposed to various music styles. After getting his first guitar at the age of 18, he started to play the piano, the bass, the drums and he performed in several new wave and metal bands. Although, since discovering electronic music in the early 2000’s, he completely changed course. He has been working with Belgian electronic acts like DK ESP, No Comment, DJ Liberty and produced several tracks for different artists that landed in the Dance Top 30 of Belgium. He also performed as resident DJ in Versuz, the biggest dancing club in Belgium at the time. In recent years, he decided to fully commit to music production and working on his own projects. His music is heavily influenced by the 70's/80's music and genres like funk, disco and lounge. During the lockdown, both Dmunsch and UnionSteve have been spending their time to write and produce new music, which will be released in the next couple of months.
Johannesburg-based singer-songwriter, Lee Cole, has been steadily making his musical presence known one pristinely-produced pop song at a time.
Still riding the wave of success his last heart-wrenching single “I Don’t Wanna Wait” achieved, charting high on 947 (peaking in the Top 10) Heart FM (climbing the Top 40), KFM and East Coast Radio, Lee has returned with “Pink Dragons”, a sunny ode to a relationship worth saving. “The melody really stood out to me and because of its upbeat nature and the melody just lent itself to positive and uplifting lyrics. At that stage, with the full song being fleshed out I recorded the song in my bedroom and got to work producing it. The whole song was a very different experience for me because I had never used a guitar as a lead instrument before,” Lee explains when asked about the construction of his latest single. At its core, this follow up single is a musically lighter, and visually brighter video release that sees him turn a different sonic corner, set for the same triumphant success as “I Don’t Wanna Wait”. Directed and shot by Dream Media, and produced by John Degrazio, the video for “Pink Dragons” paints a light and airy pastel-hued picture of a protagonist who’s fighting for his relationship, regardless of the few bumps it seems to have hit. “The director and I sat down and discussed the vision and direction for the video back in April, and in our discussions we both settled on imagery that was bright and arty, yet very abstract. The director conceptualised the ideas of the balloons and hands to go hand-in-hand with the very specific and descriptive nature of the lyrics,” Lee explains when questioned about the fashioning of the video’s narrative alongside Dream Media. With vocal influences ranging from rock titans Queen and AC/DC, to pop icon Michael Jackson, Lee Cole’s sound has been shaped by the multiple genres that he’s taken in over the years, resulting in a pop-rooted sound that’s flecked with his unique vocal stylings and “Pink Dragons” is the culmination of all of these elements.
