Irish duo Graham Davy have released their third single, “Fear”.
This hopeful song draws on dark experience. Its chilled and catchy exterior belie a tale of personal struggle;. A murder ballad where we stalk and kill fear. The Seed: The seed for the song emerged from Patrick O’ Keeffe’s writing sessions at his home studio. Patrick has spent many many hours using music as an outlet to find balance. Some people hit the gym, others write gems, like this one (as above). His close friend and collaborator: David Ruth, a lifelong musician, and devotee to the craft of songwriting, was intrigued. And so the seed grew, with due attention from the two. Friends like These: All tracks by Graham Davy feature the exceptional abilities of nationally renowned drummer/percussionist/composer/ all round nice guy: Tommy Gray. All artwork/branding comes from the talented eyes and gifted fingers of graphic design maestro: James Loughman. All tracks are mixed and mastered by the watchful ears of multitalented producer/engineer/dude Scott Halliday. Graham Davy are song writing duo Patrick O'Keeffe (vocals, guitar and keys) and David Ruth (bass and backing vocals). Their lyrics try to find humour and hope in harsh places. Their style draws on a broad set of influences such as Tame Impala,Blur, David Bowie and The Doors, to name a very few. The duo released two singles this year, garnering the attention of John Barker at 98fm, and becoming featured Irish Artist of the week on Ed Smith’s Song of Praise on Today FM.
From the furthermost regions of Romania... From the mountainous peaks of Scotland... From the darkest corners of a Boards.ie forum... comes a band desperately trying to create new music together whilst practicing social distancing due to the Covid-19 worldwide pandemic….
Founding members Ally Pender and Alex Burcea met whilst in another band and found there was a creative spark when they worked together. They decided to form their own project in the summer of 2018. They spent the next year writing songs & auditioning band members. The current lineup was completed when Evan Cassidy, James O’ Gorman & Shane Waldron joined in June 2019. Legend says if you took Muse, The Editors, The Killers and Manic Street Preachers and baked them into a cake at 180 degrees you would create not only a lawsuit, but something that bears a mild resemblance to Afterbliss. Afterbliss spent the first 18 months of their existence writing songs, recording demos and shaping their sound based on their collective influences. Melodic rock is how they best describe their sound, taking notes from the aforementioned bands and creating a style that is uniquely theirs. In September 2020, Afterbliss entered Windmill Lane Recording Studio to begin recording sessions with producer Alan Kelly. They released their debut single in November 2020 'Until Sunrise'. Until Sunrise was well received by fans and critics and received radio play on many local and national stations. Their follow up single was 'Kiss & Tell'. Kiss & Tell has the same indie pop genes as Until Sunrise but with a darker undertone. Driving drums and bass help underpin catchy vocal melodies while the guitars and synths pack their own punch. Now, the band has just released their third single 'Remnants'. A dynamic and complex track blending together a wide array of musical genres, from classical to dance. Remnants will take you on a journey as it’s galloping verse morphs into a chorus that will have you on your feet. All while retaining the classic Afterbliss melodic undertones.
Kilkenny/Ireland based singer and multi-instrumentalist Ali Comerford has just released her second single 'Knots' and is announcing her debut album, of the same name, which will be released everywhere on 29th July 2021.
Having toured the world performing Viola in classical ensembles for 14 years, Ali moved back to Kilkenny in 2020 and has recorded her debut album of original folk based but classical influenced songs. About the song 'Knots' Comerford says "Knots is a song I wrote about anxiety, something we all struggle with at one time or another. At the time, I was going through a stage of intense anxiety. I worried about the fact that I hadn’t released any music, about whether people would enjoy my songs or not and also overanalyzed every little thing I had ever done wrong. I wasn’t sleeping properly and found I was lying awake at night replaying old conversations and feeling ashamed and embarrassed. Anxiety is an extremely isolating thing because when you’re in it, you believe that you are the only person who feels like this. I think it’s powerful when people can speak about their own struggles and maybe eventually it will help us all feel less alone." Born and raised in Co. Kilkenny, Ireland, Ali started playing and studying classical music at the age of 4. After obtaining a Masters of Violin Performance from London's Royal College of Music, she relocated to New York, completing a Masters of Music in Viola Performance at the Manhattan School of Music on scholarship. Ali’s journey in music has seen her grace the likes of New York’s Carnegie Hall, London’s Royal Albert Hall and Dublin’s National Concert Hall. She has toured the world with Lincoln Center Stage, playing sold out shows around Australia, New Zealand and the United States. After years as a freelance musician for various string ensembles and chamber orchestras in New York, January 2020 saw Ali come home to her native Jenkinstown in Co. Kilkenny. Faced with her biggest stretch of free time in 14 years, Ali used her artistry to process and bring closure to the various ups and downs of life she experienced during her time traveling the world with her craft. Ali has spent the last decade of her life playing other peoples' music and the time has come to share some of her own. She wrote, sang, played and produced every note on the album, finally exploring the full scope of her musicality. The single was recorded at Crossroads studio Kilkenny with recording and mixing engineer Shane Tobler.
german BASED artist EL DI3GO RELEASES NEW SONG 'SHORE' combining contemporary pop with hip hop5/26/2021
The brainchild of Dominican artist Diego Guerrero, El Di3go embraces the positive aspects of life in his new single ‘Shore’. Inspired by the sounds of Michael Jackson, 2Pac, Daddy Yankee and Don Omar, he draws together pop, hip hop and reggaeton creating a genre-defying and boundary-breaking sound.
At only 10 years old, Germany-based El Di3go became interested in music listening regularly to pop and rap artists. He took to pursuing his dream of becoming a musician by writing music and rapping at age 15 and forming the boyband Habama Brothers at age 16. Since then, Diego adopted a DIY approach and started producing, mixing and mastering his own material. Noting the importance of writing his own music, he has released 7 original singles on Spotify, 2 music videos on YouTube and gained over 135K Spotify streams. With a melody in his head and a song in his heart, Diego uses music as a catharsis and means of escapism where he can feel free and be himself. Using steady beats with interspersed guitars, the recently released ‘Shore’ is a rich and harmonic expression of hopeful optimism. Combining contemporary pop with cleverly arranged hip hop styles, Diego showcases innovativeness, eclecticism and a tender warmth in the toe-tapping tune. “’Shore is about not complaining about life and showing more gratitude instead. You should do what you think is right and also stand by what you do and be responsible for your actions. The message of the song is to believe in yourself and hence be able to achieve anything. I wanted to write the song to remind people and myself of how beautiful life can be.” – El Diego on ‘Shore’
tea henny has just released his new song 'hey cutie <3' inspired by a text message title he received5/25/2021
TEA HENNY is a British indie, R&B and pop artist. Early influences included Outkast, Gorillaz and Jack Johnson. Later, inspiration came from Frank Sinatra, Mac Miller and Prince.
At eight and a half, with an ‘84 strat, Tea launched his musical career. He learnt to write and sing songs and crafted his musical ear. He co-founded the Bourne Bap rap collective and performed at sold-out club events as DJ producer and small-time rapper around the UK. At 19, he moved to London and Abbey Road Institute to pursue big-time producer dreams. He learnt a bunch, but never enough about the music industry. Tea produced notable sessions and released three neo-soul records with Dayo Bello, amassing over 500k streams. Now, focused on developing personal artistry, and thanks in great part to the Abbey Road team, the tools of music creation became increasingly transparent. Tea learnt to channel imagination, through voice and instrumentation, free from restrictions of technical incompetence. In 2020, Tea Henny has released his first two solo singles, formed alt-rock project staring at the ceiling, and has more recently been working on music videos, photo shoots and selling merchandise. Tea has kept himself busy during Covid-19 with mixing, mastering and structuring upcoming releases. His latest track is a text message title called 'hey cutie <3', which was released on 13th May 2021. "This song was inspired by the pulse of 'Men I Trust', a Canadian indie pop band from Canada, I recorded a drum loop. A year later, I layered up the guitar. Chords, percussion, distorted riffs and bass. The song is about caring for someone and not receiving that same care in return".
The Jonah Medal take a nose-dive into confessional 70’s Lennon via the folk- rock of the Waterboys with their new single ‘From M to M’, which is out today.
Continuing his theme of reflection, Bjorn Baillie continues to write sketches of a 40-something life through the lens of family, friendship and fatherhood. About the song Ballie says “The last single ‘Septembering’ was about that journey as a couple from early days straight through to family and all that brings. This song is like the impatient foot-tap of midlife - eager to keep pushing and creating”. Recorded in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles and Nick Cave’s studio in Brighton, this song sounds like a lost-70’s classic with an instantly memorable piano intro and life-affirming lyric. Founded in Brighton, UK in 2020, The Jonah Medal began as a creative mission for Baillie to challenge his own forward musical progression, turn backwards and deeply inwards, and embrace the familiar. “Having written for many years for a band who needed singles and album tracks, The Jonah Medal is my finally feeling comfortable addressing the issues in my own life, in my friends’ lives, and the lives of my peers.” Bjorn Baillie Baillie’s own creative journey had taken him around the world once already with his hometown band La Rocca. He spent his 20’s with them signing a major record deal, posting up in LA and touring with the likes of Phoenix, Jet, Silversun Pickups, and more. While based in LA, Baillie logged countless hours collaborating with artists of every genre; in the process, cultivating a deeply personal connection with the musical legacy, the lifestyle and the inhabitants of the legendary Laurel Canyon neighbourhood. There is a through-line from Baillie’s “Laurel Canyon period” into the new music of The Jonah Medal – the bare honesty and humanity of Carole King and Joni Mitchell, the soulful lyricism of Crosby, Stills and Nash and the humour of Randy Newman – these are the themes that Baillie knew he needed to express in this new body of work, with the new-found perspective and experience of a well traveled artist and a father. “I’m asking my own generation if they’re okay. Mid-life is here for so many of us. With older parents and young children… we’re the generation squeezed in the middle trying to hold it all together. THATS what I’m addressing, all following my lead to serve the song, with sincerity and warmth.” The Jonah Medal reflects the musical and lyrical themes explored by Baillie throughout his career, injected with the clarity and heart of a man living a truly full life. Weathered optimism, clear-eyed understanding, the highs and lows of relationships, and adulthood, all represented in the lyrics, the sounds and the fabric of this music. “We had no maps or detailed instructions, we started out as new…"
This artist cannot be pigeonholed musically – and he doesn’t want to either. “Music has to inspire” – that is the motto of KrizRok.
KrizRok grew up in a musical family in Bavaria, Germany. He learned to play the piano at the age of five and formed his first band when he was just thirteen. At this point, Kriz was completely addicted to music and knew he wanted to go this path and become a musician. In addition to his school education and subsequent studies, he works as a studio and live guitarist supporting various formations where he has already played well over 1000 concerts. Kriz has also been active as a producer since 2005 and has gained experience in song writing and music production, which he is now incorporating into his own projects. “Modern songs and lyrics paired with classic sounds” are his flagship. He used the Corona break to work on his own songs and was supported by experienced friends and fellow musicians. In September 2020 his debut single “Feeling” was released. On May 14th 2021 Kriz released the new single “Welcome to my Show”. Further song releases and a live program are planned for 2021.
Lines of Flight are Matthew Henderson and Helen Whale, an electronic dreampop duo from Leeds. Having been strangers previously, they connected online in lockdown in 2020 and wrote and recorded 10 tracks together, remotely.
Throughout 2020, they each recorded their respective vocals completely separately from each other and wrote and programmed the instrumentation on their iPhones. They have never played a gig or performed live together, but just over a year since first connecting online, their third single 'Heading Out To You' has just been released. Their 'Signs of Life' album is a collection of 10 songs recorded by the duo under the constraints of lockdown in 2020. Each track is released with an accompanying video, also made on a phone, by a filmmaker, to reflect how the duo wrote & recorded the songs. ‘Heading Out To You’ is the third single that the duo is releasing in the series of 10 that will ultimately form the Signs of Life collection / album. It’s a bittersweet dreampop track about yearning for escape, and it blends dense layers of atmospheric synths with dreamy, melancholy vocals and 80s-resonant piano. Of the track’s origins, Matthew writes: "This song came about following a drive out to the north-east coast. I was reminded of driving up Sutton Bank in the snow, in a wonderful old car that my dad drove - a 1970’s Datsun Laurel. It felt so luxurious! At the time I was driving to a party and all the anxieties of that I had as a teenager, but in the song I reposition it to be my final drive to reach my dad - to be reunited with him, in his car - to travel to the ‘other side’ as referenced in the song (which in itself is a reference to the ‘why did the chicken cross the road’ joke – the dark existential humour of ‘to get to the other side’, always appealed to me). I did this by remembering that when I was driving to the party I nearly crashed - which I then reframed as a means to reaching my dad."
Dublin singer/songwriter Sean X has just published his new single, “XXX.” The single is the first release off his upcoming EP “Life of a Lonely Pirate” expected this July 2021.
With moody synths and hypnotizing vocal melodies that sit atop a driving beat, Sean X tells the story of the aftermath of a toxic relationship. Sean X says, “My freedom was gone. I couldn't be myself anymore. The song is about the stage of realizing my self-worth and reconnecting with myself. Foxxglove returns with her latest single 'Bad Timing’. This heart wrenching alt-pop ballad gives the listener a deeply personal insight into her life; about a profoundly dark time within a relationship.
The Ferndale songstress cries out “You make me feel, like I’m hard to love” as the realisation of her isolation within her world. Speaking about the track Foxxglove says, “This song is about a specific relationship, where the person broke my heart in an emotionally manipulative and frustrating manner. He fought for my attention at the start, led me on and ended up gaslighting me. The most important part of a song for me is the lyrics, that’s how I write my music at the moment and I hope people can be empathetic to the emotional weight they carry. This song represents closure to me and I hope others can find solace within the song; knowing they aren’t alone in their feelings.” The raw, emotional and uncensored lyrics are put front and centre of the song and are backed, with a simplistic yet powerful production by MINAS. He builds from a simple stripped back piano to more chaotic layers that mirror the emotions on the track. “I sent a raw song of lyrics and melody to MINAS via a voice note, he worked his magic and it perfectly captures how I feel about the song.” Foxxglove is a dark and alternative pop artist from Ferndale in South Wales. Taking inspiration from her own life experiences, films, and art to tell a story that captures people's hearts; her raw and open emotion seeps through every part of her music. She began working alongside producer & artist Minas, part of the PRS Foundation backed artist development scheme: Forté Project in 2019. In 2020 Foxxglove received support from the BBC’s launchpad scheme for artists. She has also performed at Swn Festival and supported the fast-rising UK rockers Holding Absence.
Hailing from the tropical shores of the exclusive Caribbean island of Anguilla; London born songstress, Zipporah, is back again with her latest single, "Pull up", which was released today.
Based in Manchester, England and raised in Anguilla, Zipporah embodies the musical soul of each nation entirely, creating an innovative amalgamation of dancehall, pop and alternative R&B music. In each song, she is able to paint a distinct combination of bluesy, sultry lyrics contrasted by tantalizing, waist-rolling rhythms, and sprinkled with messages of enlightenment. Her sound has captured the attention of many people with her previous single “Cake” obtaining 21,000 views on Youtube and over 13,000 listens on Spotify in less than 3 months, while also being featured on blogs like Grid Magazine and Umusicians. Zipporah’s latest single features an electrifying dancehall beat, when combined with its infectiously catchy lyrics, makes it a fire-blazing, nation-roaring, summer anthem. With a lyrical focus on emotionally abusive relationships, Zipporah is able to exude authenticity and vulnerability, allowing listeners to feel connected as they relate. Speaking more on the release, Zipporah says: “It’s crazy how common emotional abuse is today, and yet how afraid we are to talk about it. While it is not as evident as physical abuse, its scars are just as traumatic. I wanted to draw attention to the feelings experienced when in an emotionally abusive relationship, particularly the feeling of being torn about ending the relationship. This song is about gaining the courage to demand better for yourself. Being able to understand that a problem exists and if it isn’t rectified, you’re not going to settle. You deserve not only happiness but peace of mind”. The song's music video expands on the theme painting a 1980s visual, representing a time where women were limited in opportunities. As the video progresses, messages of freedom of choice and freedom of expression are drawn. Zipporah's femme fatale attitude contrasted by her charismatic and humorous personality makes her a fan favorite. Ultimately, this small-island girl is set to make a big wave in the music industry.
Irish Galway pop rock trio Hybrazil have just released “Four Seasons”, the latest single from the genre-blending street band.
Throughout the track, the sound of a band forged by live performance is evident. Bright and smooth guitars and a brisk jazzy beat set the pace, before finding a clever contrast in Coughlan’s blues-infused vocals. A seamless fusion of soul, jazz and pop create a background for the tale of a recurring conflict, where emotional instability is compared smartly to fluctuations in weather. “When all four seasons come in just one day,” vocalist Orla Coughlan sings. The story is anchored by a spunky walking bass line, with a persuasive jazz swing to it. “I originally wrote it as an acoustic song,” Coughlan says. “Someone at work had said the weather was like four seasons in one day – and it made me think of someone I knew like that.” She laughs, “I literally wrote it in twenty minutes.” Then came the instrumental elements. The band has explored many genres while playing together, but found something that felt right while developing “Four Seasons”. “We realised – we’re a pop rock band.” Maxwell explains. “We love rock. A bit of funk. Orla brings a lot of soul. But I think this song helped us figure out who we are.” Hybrazil are Orla Coughlan, Willians Maxwell, and Luan Lopes; a pop rock band with jazz and soul influences, from Galway City, Ireland. Their story began when Luan and Will met working as sign-holders, in the rain on Shop Street. They began talking about bands they loved, and soon realised they might as well start busking. Hybrazil was formed by Maxwell in 2018, with Lopes and Coughlan joining to complete its line-up in 2019. With increasing popularity and success, performing first on the streets and then to the packed and happy venues of Galway City, they began to turn their attention to releasing original music. 2020 gave them all the time and opportunity they needed to record, and saw the release of several singles, including the well-received “Orange Soles”. Their music has been featured by Listen to Discover (Ella McLaren), Indiecriollo, and Right Chord Music. In one year, Hybrazil has gained over 40k streams on Spotify alone. Hybrazil take their influence from bands like Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles and Paramore, while being also indebted to soul and funk. The result is a deft fusion of sunny genres - a mix of the local and the exotic - and a band to keep a close eye on in 2021.

Honey&Eve lets you delve into something much deeper with their new dark pop single ‘I Speak Through Storms’ (Night Drive Version). Together they create moody alternative pop music with shades of cinematic sound scapes.
Honey&Eve are a duo from Berlin, consisting of Hannah, writing and covering all the vocals, and Alex, guitar, piano and accordion multi-instrumentalist that co-writes and produces the songs. Hannah and Alex met online through a mutual friend and decided to make music together. The group cites influences from Lana Del Rey and Lorde as well as German born film score composer Hans Zimmer. During Covid-19 lockdown, Hannah and Alex spent most of their time at Sonic Boom Studios in Berlin where they wrote and recorded 6 different remix versions of ‘I Speak Through Storms’. All 6 songs have now been released on their latest EP ‘I Speak Through Storms (Remixed)’. They teamed up with two other producers to create a metal-rock version and an electronic version of the song. To round it up, Alex delivers a trap version as well as two different instrumentals. Song #4 on this EP, which is the Night Drive Version made by Alex and Hannah, has now been picked out as the single that stands out most and is for all indie rock/dark pop lovers. The song is about the destroyed relationship between nature and humanity. Mother nature is complaining about the way humanity treats the once so close bond. Everything they write, so the duo, “is based on our personal experiences. Sometimes you create a new reality, but it is still filled with your own suffering and sometimes it is all pure and raw out of your own life”.
singer/songwriter li3a overcoming loneliness through live streaming attracting 800k viewers5/7/2021
Li3a (pronounced “L-e-e-z-a”) is a singer, songwriter and producer based in Brighton, UK.
Since the summer of 2020, Li3a started live streaming on a weekly basis and had an early success with her online performances attracting 800k viewers per stream. This experience changed the direction of her musical journey. The support provided by her online community has made possible the release of her new single "Not Knowing You" as well as the follow up EP "Dear Broken Hearted". "Thanks to them, I was encouraged and motivated to work on these songs and to finish them even though at times it was emotionally difficult to do it", Li3a says. "Not Knowing You" is different from the previous material that Li3a put out, and has an acoustic and raw feel to it. The song describes the feeling of valuing your past even if it was painful. There is no shame in feeling sad or lonely. Unfortunately, mental health is still a taboo subject, and the inability to express feelings without fear of judgment is not just scary, but it makes you feel like you are on your own. It’s true that current events have triggered emotions that often make us feel like nobody understands what we are going through. But it’s important to remind ourselves that even when human connection is taken away, it doesn’t mean it’s lost. Music, for one, doesn’t understand physical barriers. I started live streaming because I always had this urge to play for people and I always felt this strange connection that develops when you play music for somebody else; you connect to people on an emotional level” says Li3a. The challenges brought by last year’s restrictions did not mean a limitation for this emotional connection. Li3a quickly understood that live streaming allowed her to establish a space for overcoming challenges through reflection and sharing. Every week, over 800k viewers tune in to her performances and have helped her redefine her musical direction. Songs that she never thought would be released were requested more often by the community and lead to the release of “Not Knowing You”. These online performances created a safe space for many people to come back to and connect not only with Li3a but with each other.
irish singer t. cole releases 'sipping not tripping' - a heartfelt afroswing anthem on letting go5/7/2021
T. Cole is set to follow up her shining debut, with her second single “Sipping Not Tripping”. Rippling synth arpeggios set the stage for introspective melodies, which are paired with a confident, outgoing outlook. The result is an intelligent pop song, coursing with gorgeous harmonies and irresistible rhythm.
T.Cole’s strong relationship with her production team is evident throughout – who built the track from a voice memo made while she was doing her chores at home. “I couldn’t get this song out of my head.” T. Cole explains. “I asked my brother Josh to play some chords to it in the studio. And it just came together. Solo, my producer, jumped onboard, and we just created it around that melody.” “I love that about it – I can hear my input. This song, I just find, is so different to how I’ve written in the past – writing to a beat.” “It’s about missing someone.” T. Cole explains, on the meaning behind the track. “I wrote it about one of those moments in time. When you’re out with friends, and you think, ‘Oh, this person would love this’, or ‘I wish this person were here right now.’” “It could be a love interest, or a best friend. It’s thinking about how I wish we were enjoying this moment together. Doing this together.” Eventually T.Cole is able to choose to let go and enjoy the moment. As the song reaches the chorus, she sings, “Get off my mind.” – she refuses to feel guilty for enjoying herself. T.Cole is the alias for Tunolase Margaret Cole. Born and raised in Drogheda, Co. Louth, the singer began singing at the age of eight in her local church choir – for which she and her friends auditioned by singing a remix of ‘Push It to the Limit’, from Scarface, with the words, ‘I Wanna Join the Choir’. Encouragement and training from her local community in Drogheda, several years in a band, and joining forces with her friend and manager Mani, led her to feel she was ready to step out and begin a solo project. She was spotted by LJ Platform, and joined the agency’s roster in 2020. With a strong debut, ‘Thankful’, already under her belt, and a steady stream of strong singles ready to follow, T.Cole is ready to join the best of the rising talent emerging in Irish contemporary pop today. T.Cole’s music is inspired by a host of popular genres, including classic pop, afroswing and R&B. She listens to everything, leaving her with a well-rounded sound. Prominent influences include Jackson 5 and Prince, as well as contemporary artists like Kiana Lede and Amber Marks.
