back on the radar: against all covid odds, energetic indie rock band radars have released their new track 'get better'

8/27/2020

ADARS look to turn the tide of COVID-19’s impact on the music industry as they release ‘Get Better’ – an uplifting anthem for self-improvement which transforms RADARS trademark danceable indie-rock sound into a reflection on how we can all push forward through an unprecedented year.

As RADARS prepared for the release of their previous single ‘Same Page’ on the 10th April, it was all looking up for the Hull quintet as they racked up pre-saves through a successful social media campaign and began to book their first gigs at illustrious Hull venues, The Welly and Polar Bear.

Although the single was a success with over 10,000 streams on Spotify alone, no-one could predict how the world would change from the release date to today. Instead of hitting the road with a set of freshly written songs in support of the single release, RADARS were forced to cancel any plans they had made along with the rest of the world.

However after a long period of lockdown and isolation, RADARS were able to reunite at a distance and return to the studio to record ‘Get Better’. After going back to the trusted team of producer Barrington Molé (published by Warner Chappell) and engineer Tom Carter (Whitemoor, I Set The Sea On Fire) at Soundhub Studios, along with mastering from Peter Maher (Snow Patrol, The Killers, Katy Perry), ‘Get Better’ followed in the trail set by ‘Same Page’ with a combination of foot tapping rhythms, racing guitar riffs and powerful vocals.

‘Get Better’ gets you straight onto your feet when the distant opening guitar riff is blasted away by the full force of the band’s driving riffs. The drums from Joe and bass from Calvin combine into a funk inspired dance groove which could easily slip into a Red Hot Chili Peppers song. As the rhythm section carries the song into the verse, Sam and Dave’s catchy guitar riffs work seamlessly with Jack’s irresistible Kings of Leon inspired vocals, before his chorus hooks (“Do you feel like a ticking time bomb?”) evoke the carefree feeling of pumping your fists on a muddy festival ground.

With only their second single with bassist Calvin and with the production and engineer team at Soundhub, RADARS have found a formula for producing catchy but rocking indie-pop tunes that looks set to gain them even more support across the country. Their first three singles have had over 20,000 streams combined with a steady increase in followers during this time, and ‘Get Better’ looks set to add even more to these numbers as it lights up playlists across the world.

‘Get Better’ sees RADARS ride the wave of the current crisis to come out on top, and it will also see them ride the wave of the 2020 British indie-rock revival alongside bands like Sports Team, Porridge Radio and Vistas as guitar bands make yet another comeback.
