After a well-received 2019 debut (‘do you think it’s fine?), Ro released her second single (‘forgot’), which gained support from tastemakers such as Harriet Rose at Fubar Radio. Following a recent feature with LA producer Damon Steele (via PUZL Records), she’s back with a kick. Single no.3 is titled ‘low in the evenings’ and it makes you want to dance and cry at the same time.
Blending a signature 80’s touch with a 00’s pop influence, the track delivers glittery vocals and charged-up choruses, reminiscent of some of Ro’s idolised female creatives, Grimes and Christine and the Queens. Growing up making demos with tape recorders, the now London-based artist produces all of her music, which has created a sonic ID with an all-in-one approach. Last year saw Ro performing at Laylow in Notting Hill for Trash Like You Records’ collaboration with The Circle (a charity founded by Annie Lennox) and 2020 has seen her also grace the stage at Ronnie Scott’s.
