Almost an in-utero beginning, frontman Gonzalo Marnucci quips that his passion and love for music began when his mum was pregnant with him, playing vinyls like Creedance Clearwater Revival, The Shadows and Henry Mancini. Skip ahead some decades and Acuario Cosmico takes inspiration from Jack Kerouak, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones; moreover, they’ve been compared to The Black Keys, Babasonicos and The Growlers - I guess what you listen to while in the womb does play a role.
Bringing the energy of the underground Buenos Aires scene to Berlin, three-piece Acuario Cosmico blend a brand of indie-pop meets surf-rock with a 60s edge and modern-day danceability. With the skills of Gonzalo “Gong” Marnucci (lead vocals and guitar), Michael “Mörk” Merkt (bass guitar), and Jonathan “Jo” Boudevin (drums), the band finds a way of weaving reality and existential issues into infectious, moving melodies. While their technical formation was in 2008, Acuario Cosmico set off on their signature sonic journey in 2012. Since then, they have amazed audiences with energetic, exuberant, confident live shows. From SUSI Sommerfest in Freiburg to the OBOA in Brandenburg, Acuario Cosmico floods listeners with anthemic tunes. The South American trio has been featured on radio stations like Heart Radio in the UK, extending their reach beyond Germany. Glimmering with a vintage 60s appeal, a sheen of indie-pop and surf-rock, Acuario Cosmico release their new single ‘Thank You’. A precursor to their upcoming album - set for release on 21st June 2025 - ‘Thank You’ is an innovative delving into the intricacies of life and relationships bound in a toe-tapping tune. “This song is a thankful way to welcome love. The whole album is a resilient concept of learning in relationships, mutual respect, loving care and emotional responsibility. It has quotes of the lockdown and the cultural differences when you are an expat, but the emphasis is about falling in love. Masks down and keep on going in a 60s feel with a contemporaneous anecdote - the connection this time was because I forgot my lighter in her car, and that started it on…” - Gonzalo Marinucci on ‘Thank You’.
